Sheikh Farid Hamadé ( Arabic الشيخ فريد رشيد حمادة, DMG aš-Šaiḫ Farīd Rašīd Ḥamāda , also: Amadet, born May 14, 1925 in Baaklin , Lebanon ; † March 19, 1999 in Paris ) was a Druze lawyer and politician.

biography

Farid Hamadé was a son of Sheikh Yazbaki, Rachid Hamadé (Rashid bin Hussein Hamada ( Arabic رشيد بن حسين حمادة, 1894–1970))., He belonged to the Maschyachat al-ʿAql , as he was the descendant of three lines of the Sheikhs ʿAql. In the Lebanese Civil War he opposed the policies of the Jumblat family and sought alliances with the moderate Christians of Lebanon. Several attacks were carried out on him. His greatest opponent was Walid Jumblat . In 1990 he went into exile with his family in France after the Syrian Army had invaded the areas that had been under the control of the Maronite officer Michel Aoun . With him the line of the Sheikhs ʿAql Yazbaki ended . In exile he founded and headed the Front mondial pour la libération du Liban .

He died on March 19, 1999 and was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris .

family

Hamadé had three children: Maân Hamadé, Khaled Hamadé and Nada Hamadé. The family manages an important historical and religious legacy of the Druze .
