Farid Sadek (born April 7, 1983 in Haan , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German basketball player . The 1.88 m tall point guard plays basketball in the major league for the TG Düsseldorf in the current 2019/20 season .

Career

Farid Sadek began his basketball career at the age of 12 with Barmer TV. After some time he moved to the largest club in the area around Wuppertal to the Schwelmer Baskets . But he left this after one season to join the Hertener Löwen . In 2005/06 Sadek returned to Schwelm (1st Regionalliga West) and was one of the best point collectors in the Baskets team with an average of 15 points. This was not hidden from other clubs and so the second division Düsseldorf Magics signed the then 24-year-old Sadek. In Dusseldorf, however, the development player did not get beyond a bench role and scored 2.3 points per game and gave exactly one basket template per match. The USC Freiburg drew 2008/09 Farid Sadek in the Breisgau and he graduated from there the entire season in the ProA . Sadek got a lot more playing time there (20:23 minutes per game) but his values didn't improve.

In 2009 the Bayer Giants Leverkusen announced the commitment of Farid Sadek. Sadek already played in Leverkusen earlier, but only went basket-hunting there for the Giants' second team. The early stage player quickly became the head of the Rhinelander who had just been promoted to the ProB and scored 6.9 points per game and 3.4 assists per match (18th place in the entire league) for Bayer in his first season. In the following season, Sadek was able to improve his statistics. His new trainer, Chris Martin, asked Sadek more in terms of "scoring" and so the point guard got 8.5 PpS and 5.1 ApS. For the first time he was represented in the top ten of the ProB (7th place in the category "Assists per game") and came into the newly created ProB playoffs with Leverkusen. There they were defeated by Erdgas Ehingen / Urspring School with 0-2. In the 2011/12 season, Farid Sadek was in the Giants' squad for the third time in a row. The new coach, Achim Kuczmann , made Sadek the team captain of the team from the Farbenstadt team. At the end of the 2011/2012 season, Sadek moved to the Hertener Löwen , where he was already committed in 2005/2006. After one season, Sadek left the district of Herten for professional reasons and joined the Grevenbroich Elephants from the 1st Regionalliga West for the 2013/2014 season .

Shortly before Christmas 2013, Sadek was seriously injured in a car accident. He suffered a severe concussion and several ribs were bruised. In January 2014 Sadek took part in the game operations of his Elephants in the 1st Regionalliga West.

Sadek is studying sport and social sciences to become a teacher at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . Farid Sadek is considered one of the best streetball players in the Federal Republic of Germany and has already taken part in major national and international tournaments.
