Farid Vatanparast

Mir Farid Vatanparast (born June 9, 1979 in Tehran , Iran ) is an ex-professional boxer, motivational speaker, boxing trainer, entrepreneur and professor at the FOM University of Economics and Management in Dortmund. He is the founder of the boxing project "Farid's QualiFighting" and winner of the German Citizen Award 2012.

Life

Vatanparast lived in Dubai with his mother, sister and brother until he was thirteen . In 1992 he came to Germany with his family.

In 1993 he started boxing. He graduated from secondary school, attended higher commercial school in Münster and did his Abitur. From 2001 he studied business administration at the Münster University of Applied Sciences and continued to train at the same time . He won some district, regional and state titles and thus attracted the attention of the Bundesliga club BSK Ahlen. In Ahlen he was trained by Marian Gavrila , who was successful in the amateur field in the eighties.

During this time he became a member of the national team. In 2003 he signed a professional contract.

In 2008 he finished his studies in the business department. The topic of his diploma thesis was "The contribution of boxing to professional qualification - using the example of gastronomy". In the same year he completed his B-Trainer license (Bundesliga) and was appointed by the German Boxing Association to lead the German School Boys team at the European Championship. The most successful German participant was Angelino Jörling, whom he trained.

In 2009 he accepted a teaching position at the Uppenberg Förderschule in Münster and was a member of the “Strengths on site” committee. In 2010 he received his A trainer license. Later he did his doctorate with the thesis' "Farid's QualiFighting": Investigations on the transferability of mentoring processes and one's own biography to the project of a boxing-learning stable in a 'social hot spot'. He finally accepted a teaching position at the Adolph Kolping Vocational College. Since 2013 he has been working as a lecturer in the field of motivation at FOM Münster .

Another project has existed in Ostbevern since 2011. It is financed by the "Startbahn Ostbevern" association, which is headed by Manfred Läkamp.

Vatanparast is the official sponsor of the Peace School in Münster, which in 2013 received the award "School without Racism - School with Courage" from the Aktion Courage eV association. As part of the sponsorship, he supports the student body in their commitment to the nationwide organization. The second sponsorship is for the Karlschule in Hamm, which received the same award in 2016.

Since March 2013 he has been a full-time lecturer at the FOM University of Economics & Management in Dortmund, where he is professor for general business administration, human resources and social entrepreneurship. Farid Vatanparast heads - together with Holger Wassermann - the Competence Center for Entrepreneurship & SMEs at the FOM University, which opened on November 13th.

In 2018 Vatanparast became Vice President of the Westphalian Amateur Boxing District (WABB), since 2019 he has held the position of Vice President of Competitive Sports in the NRW State Association of the German Boxing Association eV and sits on the board of trustees of the youth foundation Wohn + Stadtbau.

Trainer

Farid Vatanparast has had the A-trainer license since 2010 and has already achieved success with his students:

  • 2008: 7 Westphalian champions, 2 NRW champions, German master of the cadets (Angelino Jörling), vice German master U21 (Soner Ün), third place: German cadet championship (Gajo Wagner), third place: European championship of school boys (Angelino Jörling)
  • 2009: 4 Westphalia champions, 3 NRW champions, 3 participants in the German championships
  • 2010: 6 Westphalia champions, 5 NRW champions, German junior champion (Darlene Jörling), German youth champion (Schiba Esmailpour), German junior champion (Gajo Wagner), international German youth champion (Gajo Wagner), vice European champion of the juniors (Darlene Jörling)
  • 2011: Third place at the German Youth Championships (Gajo Wagner), Third place at the World Youth Championships (Darlene Jörling)
  • 2012: German Champion U19 (Richard Oliver Goman), European Junior Champion (Darlene Jörling), Vice German Champion U15 (Kevin Stein)

Awards

  • 2007/2008: Award from the Federal Employment Agency for the outstanding commitment in training "We write success with a pen"
  • Sept. 2008: Award for the best concept and implementation in North Rhine-Westphalia from the “ Deichmann Prize against Youth Unemployment”
  • Oct. 2008: 4th place for the concept and implementation in Germany of the "Deichmann Prize against Youth Unemployment"
  • Oct. 2009: Award as the best project "which successfully brings people back into society or prevents them from drifting off as a child" from the Crime Prevention Foundation: "German Crime Prevention Award"
  • Nov. 2009: Award from the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia, initiative “We want: Business for schools in North Rhine-Westphalia” with the designation “Enterprise Prize 2009” as the best entrepreneur with up to 20 employees, who works as a partner for schools, girls and boys to support multiple cultures in the transition to training and work
  • Febr. 2010: Award for the promotion of the honorary position "Klimke Förderpreis"
  • March 2010: Awarded the “Active for Young People” award for the best project, young people learn to plan their lives better and to deal with money
  • Jan. 2011: Honoring by awarding the honorary office through the invitation to the New Year's reception at the Federal President
  • March 2011: Awarded for pioneering commitment by the Robert Bosch Foundation : "Role model for social commitment"
  • Oct. 2012: PSD Citizens' Project 2012
  • Nov. 2012: Das Grüne Band (DOSB), award for excellent talent development
  • Dec. 2012: German Citizens' Prize , category “Committed Entrepreneurs” for the Farid's QualiFighting project
