Farmington is a city and county seat of Davis County in the US state of Utah .

geography

The city covers an area of ​​20.1 km² (7.8 mi² ). There are no bodies of water. The city is 16 miles north of Salt Lake City .

history

The first inhabitants were Indians who populated this area until 1860. The first trappers came to this area around 1825 . The first settlers followed in the 1840s. Shortly after the Salt Lake Valley was colonized by Mormons , Heber C. Haight made his way north to Graze Cattle , built a log cabin there, and settled with his family. A little later, other settlers followed. They founded the place "North Cottonwood", which was renamed in 1892 in Farmington.
