Fatima bint Saʿd al-Chair

Fatima bint Saʿd al-Chair ( Arabic فاطمة بنت سعد الخير, DMG Fāṭima bt. Saʿd al-Ḫair ; * 1130 in Kashgar Province, China ; † around 1208 in Cairo ) was a Muslim hadith scholar of the 12th century.

Fatima bint Saʿd al-Chair was born in 1130 AD in the Kashgar Province of China as part of a family originally from Valencia . Her father Saʿd al-Chair, a wealthy trader and hadith scholar who traveled extensively, eventually settled in China. During his travels he learned from scholars from Baghdad , Isfahan , Hamadan and other cities. Fatima bint Saʿd al-Chair was privately tutored by her father. She died in Cairo at the age of 78 and was buried under Mount Muqattam .

Fatima's disciples included Ismaʿil b. ʿAzzun, Diyaʾ ad-Din al-Maqdisi, ʿAbdullah b. ʿAbd al-Wahid b. ʿAllaq, Abu l-Qasim b. al-Husain al-Quraschi, Abu Muhammad Ishaq b. Muhammad al-Hamadani, Abu l-Hasan b. al-Qasim and others.
