The Fatima Church (formerly St. Kunigund Monastery Church ) is a small church in the Upper Palatinate district town of Tirschenreuth in the diocese of Regensburg . It was built between 1855 and 1858 for the convent of the poor school sisters of Our Lady of Alois Hörmann.

history

Since the poor school sisters gave up the monastery in Tirschenreuth in 1979, the church was renovated in neo-Gothic style until 1987 and then renamed the Fatima Church .

Our Lady stands in the middle of the altar , surrounded by the statues of the royal couple Heinrich II and Kunigunde . The painting of the Savior was uncovered on the ceiling of the church. On the sides are Augustine , the founder of the Poor School Sisters, Karolina Gerhardinger , Bishop Georg Michael Wittmann and Father Liberat Weiß . In 1997 a carillon was added to the north side.

The carillon on the church consists of 18 bells , which weigh 53 kg to 11 kg and have a circumference of 200 × 170 mm to 418 × 365 mm. The carillon was installed for the 40th anniversary of the priesthood of the former pastor Georg Maria Witt, financed exclusively by donations. The manufacture and assembly of the bells was carried out by the Georg Rauscher tower clock factory in Regensburg .

The carillon plays four times a day at 9:05 a.m., 12:05 p.m., 6:05 p.m. and at 9:55 p.m. At 21.55 the melody of sounds Bayernhymne .
