Fatemeh Pahlavi ( Persian فاطمه پهلوی; * October 30, 1928 in Tehran , Iran ; † June 2, 1987 in London ) was an Iranian entrepreneur and member of the Pahlavi dynasty.

Life

Fatemeh Pahlavi was the tenth child of Reza Shah Pahlavi and Esmat Dowlatshahi, who came from the Qajar dynasty. She was the full sister of Abdul Reza Pahlavi, Mahmoud Reza Pahlavi, Hamid Reza Pahlavi and the half sister of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi . She attended the Anoushiravan Dadgar Girls' School in Tehran and lived in Tehran with her parents and brothers. In 1950, in Civitavecchia , Italy , she married Vincent Lee Hillyer, who was a friend of her brother Abdul Reza Pahlavi. After Hillyer converted to Islam , they married in a religious ceremony at the Iranian embassy in Paris . Probably because of negative reactions in Iran, the marriage of Shah Mohammad Reza was not fully approved. They had three children, two sons, Kayvan and Dariush, and a daughter, Rana, who died in a childhood accident in 1954. After their divorce in 1959, she married the commanding general of the Iranian Air Force, Mohammad Amir Khatami , with whom she also had two sons and a daughter. In 1975 Khatami died in an accident.

Pahlavi owned a bowling club during the reign of her half-brother, Muhammad Reza Pahlavi, and was involved in business involving firms involved in construction, vegetable oil production and engineering. During that time she had a fortune of around $ 500 million. In Iran, she was also involved in higher education activities. After leaving Iran before the 1979 revolution, she lived in London for her final years. She is the first and only known person to wear the sunburst tiara. In 1967 she wore the tiara for her brother's coronation. The sunburst tiara almost certainly came from the treasury of the Qajar Dynasty and is currently owned by the Iranian state, like most of the jewels that were confiscated after the 1979 revolution.
