Fazioli is an Italian manufacturer of high quality concert grand pianos .

history

The manufacture was founded by the pianist and engineer Paolo Fazioli (* 1944) in 1981 in the northern Italian city of Sacile ( Friuli-Venezia Giulia ).

Fabrication

High quality materials are used for the largely handcrafted wings . The soundboards are made of spruce wood from the Fiemme Valley , from which the violin maker Antonio Stradivari obtained material.

Fazioli is currently building six wing models in lengths of 156, 183, 212, 228, 278 and 308 cm. The latter with the type designation F308 is the longest production grand piano in the world to date. It is also available with four pedals instead of the usual three. The fourth pedal, on the left of the usual three, adopts the technique of the piano pedal on a pianino . It has the effect that the hammers are brought closer to the strings when they are at rest, making it easier to play pianissimo without changing the timbre (as happens with the shift or Una Corda pedal).

The instruments should be characterized by their richness of sound, their precise mechanics and a flawless processing quality. As a unique selling point, they have a tunable duplex scale , whereby brass bridges can be moved to cut the passively resonating string parts. In this way, in addition to the usual piano tuning , the accompanying aliquot tones can also be tuned .

distribution

Instruments from Fazioli are enjoying increasing popularity among professional pianists, although instruments from this manufacturer are still played much less frequently on concert stages than those made by their competitors Steinway & Sons or Bösendorfer . Prominent Fazioli pianists include a. Benny Andersson , Herbie Hancock , Angela Hewitt , Jan Mulder, Nikolai Demidenko, Roberto Prosseda , Markus Schirmer and Maurizio Baglini , who is also the art director of Fazioli.
