Roberto Prosseda (born May 7, 1975 in Latina , Lazio region , Italy ) is an Italian pianist and musicologist .

Life

Prosseda began composing as a child and learned the piano in his hometown from the age of six . He later studied in Imola with Alexander Lonquich , Boris Petrushansky and Franco Scala, among others, and in Cadenabbia on Lake Como with Dmitri Alexandrowitsch Baschkirow , Leon Fleisher and Charles Rosen, among others .

Prosseda has performed as a solo pianist around the world and has played with orchestras around the world. Since 1999 he can be heard as a pianist duo together with his wife Alessandra Ammara . So far he has presented more than 20 pieces by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy that were not yet known to the public. In 2009 Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, op.64, was premiered with the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig under the direction of Riccardo Chailly .

In 2009 he was the author of a documentary on the Mendelssohn inedito on Italian television , the unpublished Mendelssohn , as well as the 2010 RAI documentary on Frédéric Chopin .

Prosseda is actively involved in making Italian composers of the 19th century such as Goffredo Petrassi and Luigi Dallapiccola known again in our time. Furthermore, composers of the 20th century have written piano pieces for him, such as Nicola Campogrande , Paolo Castaldi , Aldo Clementi , Luca Lombardi and Alessandro Solbiati .

Prosseda deals with the new and further development of the pedal grand piano and has initiated several concerts on this 19th century instrument since 2011.
