Fearless is the debut album by US contemporary R&B and soul singer Jazmine Sullivan .

background

In September 2008, in an interview with Pete Lewis from Blues & Soul , Sullivan explained the reason for the title of the album Fearless , which means fearless in German: “ I called the album“ Fearless ”because I'm simply not afraid of anything at the moment . I am young, only 22 years old ... and I just think that if you just take your own uniqueness to heart and have no fear and risk being different, everyone else will do it too! ".

success

Fearless debuted at number 6 on the US album charts with 65,000 units sold in the first week. The album fell to number ten in the second week of the chart, in which it sold 42,000 more copies. The album also peaked at number one on the Billboard top R&B / hip hop album chart. In November 2010, Fearless had sold 517,000 times in the United States.

In 2009 the album received five Grammy Award nominations: Best Female Vocal Performance in R&B ("Need U Bad"), Best Vocal Performance in Traditional R&B ("I'm in Love with Another Man"), Best R&B Song ("Bust Your Windows") and Best Contemporary R&B Album. She was also nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist . Vibe magazine named the record one of the best of 2008.
