Fedele Fischetti (born March 30, 1732 in Naples , † January 25, 1792 ibid) was an Italian painter of classicism in Naples.

Life

Fischetti was a painter of mythological and allegorical subjects. According to Thieme-Becker , he received his training from the little-known painter Gennaro Borrelli. The painter, who was highly valued during his lifetime for his naturalistically oriented paintings, worked for numerous ecclesiastical and noble clients as well as for the royal court of the Bourbons in Naples. In 1767 he was appointed by Pietro Duranti as a draftsman at the royal tapestry manufactory , where he worked with Giuseppe Bonito . One of his students was the painter Raffaele Gioia (1757-1805).
