Antonio Dominici

Antonio Dominici (born March 14, 1737 in Palermo , † November 1794 in Naples ) was a classicist painter in Naples.

Life

Dominici came to Naples at a young age, where he worked at the Accademia del Disegno in Naples from 1755 after training with Francesco Solimena .

In 1757 he was appointed to the royal tapestry manufactory as a draftsman on the recommendation of the artist Pietro Duranti . Together with Duranti and Giuseppe Bonito , he worked on designs for a series of 30 carpets with the story of Don Quixote . Later he worked with Francesco de Mura at the court of the Bourbon viceroys as a portraitist and decorative painter for the palaces of the Bourbons .

Two of his assistants were Elia Interguglielmi and Crescenzio La Gamba .
