Felicia Lynn "Fefe" Dobson (born February 28, 1985 in Toronto ) is a Canadian singer .

Life

Born in Toronto in 1985 , she grew up as the only African American member of her family. Her father had left the family before she was born and returned later, only to leave the family again. Dobson deals with this problem in her song Unforgiven . The family had to deal with hostility at an early age because of the black daughter. In an MTV - Interview 2004, she described how her sister has learned at school because of their skin color exclusion.

Her interest in music was sparked on her 12th birthday when her mother gave her a karaoke machine. Today, influences from Avril Lavigne , Alanis Morissette , Ana Johnsson , Macy Gray and Nellie McKay can be seen in their music , but their catchy guitar sounds also distinguish them.

Her self-named debut album was released on December 9, 2003 on Island Records . It ranked 67th on the Billboard 200. She recorded the song Rock It, Till You Drop It with Tone Loc . The single Everything reached number 42 on the UK charts. In July 2005 the single Don't Let It Go to Your Head was released . In November 2010 her second studio album, Joy , followed , and in December 2012, the only digitally released album Sunday Love .
