Felicitas Weck

Felicitas Weck (* 1954 in Hanover ) is a German politician and member of the Die Linke party .

Life

She initially studied to become a teacher in Göttingen and later trained as a mediator at the University of Hanover . Later she put her professional focus on organizational and political management and her political focus on local and environmental politics. The first contact with local politics came about in the council of the Solling town Hardegsen , where she represented the Greens as a lone fighter in the 1980s. From 1991 to 2000 she was the managing director of the Association for Green and Alternative Local Politics in Lower Saxony in Hanover, her work focused on advising green alternative elected officials. From 1983 to 2001 she was a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . Subsequently, she took over the management of the newly created left-alternative municipal faction in Hanover.

From 2001 to 2007 she organized the protest against a waste incineration plant in Hanover. With the establishment of the left alliance Region Hannover for the local elections in 2006, she is a member of the board.

She is a founding member of the WASG in Lower Saxony and was elected to the four-person executive board at the federal party conference in April 2006 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein as the successor to Sabine Lösing . She was confirmed in office at the federal party conference on November 18 and 19, 2006, but resigned on January 15, 2007. On March 25, 2007, Christine Buchholz was elected as her successor on the executive board .

Since January 2007 Felicitas Weck has been working as a consultant in the federal, state and municipal coordination of the left parliamentary group .

Weck is the author of the book "Linke Kommunalpolitik" from the series "Crashkurs Kommune", editor Katharina Weise, published by VSA-Verlag ISBN 978-3-89965-340-3

Felicitas Weck ran for the office of mayor of Heligoland in 2010 and only lost 47.8% in the runoff election.
