Felipe Neri Medina Valderas y Fernández de Córdova

Felipe Neri Medina Valderas y Fernández de Córdova (born May 26, 1797 in Danlí , El Paraíso Department ) was Supremo Director of Honduras from April 13 to 15, 1839 .

His parents were Petrona Idiáquez Cordova and Ignacio Medina Valderas.

His family were wealthy mine owners and hacienderos. His father was intendente (prefect) of Danlí several times. He started school in the Colegio Seminario de Guatemala in 1810 and then studied at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala . He married Dolores Serafin Gomez, in Comayagua and was a member of the Partido Liberal de Honduras .

He was a member of the Constituent Assembly and was appointed Supremo Director by this Parliament .

On October 26, 1838, Honduras declared itself a separate state under the provincial government of José María Martinez Salinas . Francisco Ferrera participated in the dispute with the federal government under José Francisco Morazán Quezada to which the separation of Honduras led. On April 5, 1839, his troops and those of Nicaragua were defeated by the forces of Morazán at the Battle of Espíritu Santo in El Salvador. On September 25, 1839, the troops of Honduras were surprised in San Pedro Perulapán and Francisco Ferrera injured, whereupon he fled to Nicaragua .

Medina resigned on April 15, 1839, and Parliament appointed Juan José Alvarado, MP, to succeed him.

Medina was in exile in Guatemala for several years.
