El Paraíso is one of the 18 departments in Honduras in Central America . The Spanish name of the department means "paradise".
The capital of the department is Yuscarán in the west of El Paraíso. El Paraíso has an external border with Nicaragua in the south .
The Department El Paraíso was created in 1878 by splitting off from the former Department Tegucigalpa.
