The administrative district of Atlántida is one of 18 departments in Honduras and is located on the north Atlantic coast of the country.
The capital and largest city of Atlántidas is the port city of La Ceiba . The next bigger city is Tela . The five next largest village communities are La Masica, Arizona, El Porvenir, Esparta and Santa Ana, which have come together to form a Mancomunidad . Economically, the region depends on the cultivation of pineapples and the African palm , the fruits of which are processed into oil .
