Felipe Solá

Felipe Solá (born July 23, 1950 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine politician and member of the Peronist Party . From 2002 to 2007 he was governor of Buenos Aires. Since December 10, 2019, he has been Foreign Minister of Argentina in the Fernández cabinet .

Life

The trained agricultural technician studied at the University of Buenos Aires . Before starting his political career, he worked as a university professor and consultant. At the provincial level he was in the cabinet of Antonio Cafiero . Between 1987 and 1989 he was Minister of Agriculture of the Province of Buenos Aires. In the government of Carlos Menem he worked in the Ministry of Agriculture until 1991, when he was sent to the Argentine parliament as a member of Buenos Aires. He also held this office for two years. On December 12, 1999, Solá became lieutenant governor of Buenos Aires and two years later (2002) even governor after his predecessor, Carlos Ruckauf , resigned from the post to become foreign minister in the government. After Solá left office in 2007, he became a deputy of Buenos Aires in again Parliament . There he represented the Peronist Frente para la Victoria . In 2013 he was re-elected to parliament, now for the Frente Renovador . In 2015 he ran again for governor, but only finished third with around 19%. After he was re-elected to parliament in 2017, he supported the finally victorious presidential candidate Alberto Fernández in the electoral alliance Frente de Todos in 2019 and became its foreign minister in 2019.
