Felix Emmanuel Cédric Chenkam Nganle or short Felix Chenkam (born December 28, 1998 in Douala ) is a Cameroonian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

Felix Chenkam was born on December 28, 1998 in Douala, the largest city in Cameroon, where he grew up and began his career as a football player. After he was used in the offspring of the local top club Union Douala , he rose over the years to their men's team with play in the highest Cameroonian football league . Subsequently, he was drawn to the lower class club Rainbow Bamenda , also called Rainbow FC, from the city of Bamenda in northwest Cameroon. During this time he was also used in the Cameroonian U-20 national team. After successfully qualifying for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2017 , he took part in it as a member of a 21-strong Cameroonian squad. At that time, the Seattle Sounders had already announced the signing of Chenkam and his teammate to both Rainbow and the U-20 national team, Rodrigue Ele , with play in Major League Soccer , the highest North American soccer league . During the U-20 African Championship in Zambia, the two were eliminated from the current tournament with Cameroon in the group stage; both players remained without a goal.

At the Seattle Sounders, the two were immediately signed by Seattle Sounders 2 , the farm team of the MLS franchise, to play in the second-rate North American professional league United Soccer League (USL). Both players appeared briefly in the reports of the U-17 / U-18 team of the Seattle Sounders, in which they were apparently rarely used. In the first game of the season on March 26, 2017, Chenkam made his debut in the 2-1 away defeat by Sacramento Republic when he was substituted on by coach Ezra Hendrickson in the 73rd minute for Irvin Parra . Then Hendrickson used him more and more regularly, where he scored the goal of the 1-0 lead in his fourth championship appearance, a 2-1 away win over LA Galaxy II in the seventh minute of the game. In the entire 2017 season , Chenkam, who played with the shirt number 99, made a total of 19 league appearances in which he scored five goals. In the final standings, the team finished the season in twelfth place in the Western Conference . At Seattle Sounders 2 he was one of four Cameroonian players alongside Rodrigue Ele, Nouhou Tolo , who had already played for the team in 2016, and Guy Edoa , who only moved to Seattle in summer 2017 .
