Felix Linen

Felix Leinen (born May 15, 1957 in Wiesbaden ) is a German professor, graduate mathematician and politician ( ÖDP ).

Family and professional career

From 1976 to 1982, Leinen studied mathematics with a minor in physics . The doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. took place in 1984 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg im Breisgau . Since 1985 he has been working at the University of Mainz. Leinen is an adjunct professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . In the meantime he has had several professional stays abroad in England, Italy and the USA. On the side he was a helper at the technical relief organization from 1974 to 1984 . Leinen is married and has four children.

Political career

In the later 1990s he was active in a citizens' initiative that fought against the conversion of the Laubenheimer Höhe (→ Mainz-Laubenheim ) in the city of Mainz into a quarry. In 1999 he also joined the ÖDP, of which he was Deputy Federal Chairman from 2008 to 2010. He heads the Federal Working Group on Education Policy of the ÖDP. Leinen is treasurer of the Rhineland-Palatinate ÖDP and chairman of the ÖDP local association Mainz-Hechtsheim . In the local elections of 2009, he succeeded in entering the Mainz city ​​council, and he retained his mandate in the following local elections in 2014.
