Felix Moor

Felix Moor (born April 12, 1903 in Suure-Jaani , † May 15, 1955 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian radio pioneer. Moor is considered to be the founder of broadcasting in Estonia .

Life

education

After completing his school education, Felix Moor initially decided on a career in theater. He graduated from the Tallinn Drama School in 1924. From 1925 to 1927 he worked as an actor at the Draamastuudio Teater in Tallinn, which was founded in 1920 .

Radio journalist

Eesti Raadio began regular broadcasting on December 18, 1928. From February 1927 to 1944, Moor was the only permanent announcer and presenter for the Estonian Radio. Moor especially designed popular radio plays for adults and children and fascinated radio listeners with his reports. His innovations in sound technology were groundbreaking for Estonian radio in the interwar period .

After the Second World War , he continued his radio activity during the Soviet occupation of Estonia, albeit with much less vigor. In 1954 he stood in front of the microphone for the last time.

Appreciation

Felix Moor founded radio journalism in Estonia and made the medium popular. From 1927 until the occupation of Estonia by the Soviet Union, he was the voice of Estonian radio. In 2001, Felix Moor was immortalized on an Estonian postage stamp for his services.
