Felix blow
Felix Oscar Schlag (born December 4, 1891 in Frankfurt am Main , † March 9, 1974 in Owosso ) was a designer. He created the design of the US 5-cent piece , which was issued since 1938 .
Life
Schlag served as a youth in the German army during World War I. At a young age he was awarded several prizes in Europe.
In 1920 he married his wife Anna in Munich , with whom he had three children. He moved from Germany to the United States in 1929. In the 1930s, Schlag won several sculpture and art awards. His design for the 5-cent coin was awarded $ 1,000. Schlag accepted the offer of the American government to place his initials FS on the nickel (5-cent piece) in 1966.
He spent the rest of his life in Michigan . His grave is in Owosso .
