Felix Wachter

Felix Wachter (born November 16, 1923 in German Schützen , municipality of German Schützen-Eisenberg , † September 8, 2004 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1953 to 1956 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Life

Wachter was born the son of the farmer and merchant Josef Wachter and was the brother of Franz Wachter . He attended elementary school in Deutsch-Schützen and then the St. Rupert high school in Bischofshofen . In 1938 he left the grammar school and then attended the mission school in St. Wendel (Saarland) and the grammar school in Vienna. He dropped out of school in 1939 and then worked in his parents' company. From 1941 he was employed in the Reich Labor Service , after which he served in the Wehrmacht between 1942 and 1945 , where he was taken prisoner by the British. After the end of the war, from 1945 Wachter worked again in his parents' farm and in the grocery store. Between 1951 and 1953 he was secretary of the Catholic Action in Eisenstadt , where he met his future wife Margarete (née Csadek). Between 1956 and 1966 he ran the general store in Deutsch-Schützen again . In addition, Wachter was involved in viticulture and was one of the first organic wine producers in Burgenland. He also worked between 1971 and 1986 as an employee of the water engineering authority in Oberwart .

Wachter was married and had seven children.

In 2019, he published a manuscript of his memories and experiences as a member of the Wehrmacht during World War II , as a book entitled Mein Kampf mit Hitler - as a young person saw it .

Wachter represented the ÖVP between March 19, 1953 and June 11, 1956 in the Burgenland state parliament.
