Felix Weber (artist)
Felix Weber , also known as Schlockmaster , (born August 17, 1965 in Munich ) is a German comic artist , painter and musician. His art can be assigned to the underground . He himself describes his style as narrative aestheticism . He lives in Lower Franconia .
life and work
Felix Weber has been involved in painting , drawing , comic books and music since the early 1980s . In 1991 he founded the art label Subversion Durch Schlock (SDS) and from then on presented his art in various exhibitions. Characteristic of his work is the insistence on sex and violence as basic elements for what he believes to be progressive art. Since 1992 he has published his comic book Gilda at irregular intervals . In 2009, the last issue for the time being appeared as issue 11.
In the late 1990s named Weber SDS in Schlockweltall order. Under this name he began to build up his website.
During this time he also began to deal with German hip-hop . The "band" Schlockmaster released two Maxis and in 1999 an LP . Some of his titles have now become classics of the genre , such as Real Artists , Rap Wigga and Lass Eine Wigga Scheinen . The band Eins Zwo sampled the refrain from the piece Echte Künstler .
After 2000, Weber turned away from hip-hop and began to deal with free music together with Thomas Zipp under the name NaziHipiWelt . When Sepp Löbert joined them in 2004 , they called themselves the ZLW Trio . Their music now resembled brute noise with free jazz elements. From 2006 onwards there was another reorientation of the music by Zipp and Weber towards rock sounds, the band is now called DA (DickArsch). In addition to DA appearances (including in Los Angeles), Weber and Sepp Löbert again dedicated himself to the Schlockmaster Welt CD in 2008 as Schlockmaster .
The band DA split in 2011 after the LPs Nach Haus and In London in DA (with Felix Weber) and DA-EAT , which appear with their jam sessions at Thomas Zipp's exhibitions. DA continues to publish records, THE BLAKKKEST DOOOMSDAY has been announced for 2014 .
The official line-up of DA since 2011 is Schlockmaster (vocals and electronics), Manüla ( boatman piano ), John Tiger ( e-piano and percussion ) and Sepp Löbert (electronics and synthesizer ).
Weber now likes to summarize his painting in large thematically linked cycles. In 2007 he presented the selection The Last God in the autocenter Berlin-Friedrichshain . Among other things, he was involved in the conception of exhibitions with Manfred Peckl , Philipp Zaiser and Thomas Zipp and also works with these artists again and again.
