Felix Werner (bookseller)

Felix Werner (born March 1, 1961 in Basel ) is a Swiss bookseller and cultural organizer.

Life

Werner completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller from 1982 to 1985. In 1986 he started his own business as a bookseller. In 1990 he founded the Central Book Trade School in Olten, which he ran until 2000. He is the initiator of the “The Basler Eule” story competition, which has been held annually since 1993. From 2000 to 2008 he worked independently in the field of communication and project management. In 2008 he was involved as managing instrumental in the creation and the development of literature and Basel as an exhibition, he led along with festival director Egon Ammann of Matthyas Jenny launched BuchBasel successfully and launched the Swiss Book Prize . In May 2012 he left LiteraturBasel. He has been President of the Riehen Tourist Office since 2014, and President of the Yearbook z'Rieche Foundation and the Switzerland-Russia Society since 2019 .

From June 2014 to November 2019 he was a member of the management of the Basel-Stadt trade association. Since then he has been working independently in the field of project management.

Felix Werner is married and has 3 grown daughters. He lives in Riehen .
