Felix von Schiller

Johann Felix von Schiller (born May 23, 1805 in Breslau ; † January 31, 1853 ) was a German landscape painter.

Life

Felix von Schiller was born as the son of the merchant and landowner Johann Michael Schiller. After 1825 at the Mary Magdalene School had attained a high school, he studied at the University of Bonn law . In 1826 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . After completing his studies, he became a higher regional court trainee in Breslau, but in 1829 he left the judicial service to study painting in Munich. Influenced by Carl Rottmann and Christian Morgenstern , he devoted himself to landscape painting, especially of the Bavarian highlands and the Chiemsee. He was also active as a writer.
