The rock group around the Trutstein is a natural monument on the Dachstein massif in Styria , in the municipality of Haus and Ramsau . The geotope is located in the Rössinggraben on the L752 Rössingstrasse , ½ kilometers south of the village of Rössing .

The Trutstein , an isolated rock tower about 10 m high , is right on the road, on the Haus-Ramsau municipal boundary . A little to the north is the Trutstein Needle . The towers are made of weather stone dolomite , a weather-resistant layer of the Limestone Alps from the Triassic , which is otherwise only found here in the summit regions.

The rock formation was declared a natural monument in 1990 ( NDM.807 , nature conservation book: St-GB-035 / Ramsau am Dachstein, KG Weißenbach). The monument covers 3301 m², about 80 meters along the road and 50 meters up the slope.
