Feng Lu (* 1979 in Harbin , People's Republic of China ) is a sculptor . He makes sculptures out of clay and epoxy resin . He lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Life

As a child, Feng Lu began making humorous sculptures out of chalk in the barren backyard of his parents' house. He began his studies of the arts at the Academy of Education and Arts in Heilongjiang Province, Harbin (PR China) from 1995 to 1998. Then he went to Germany to study sculpture in 2000 at Christa Biederbick at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz to refine and acquire casting techniques. From 2001 to 2003 he studied with Inge Mahn and Karin Sander at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . This was followed between 2003 and 2005 by studying sculpture and painting with Wolfgang Petrick at the Berlin University of the Arts , where he was a master class student from 2005 to 2006.

Since 2019 he has been a professor at the Sichuan University of the Arts in China.

His art

Feng Lu first forms his sculptures in clay. When his sculpture is filled with life and corresponds to his inner image, he creates a silicone rubber mold, which is then filled with epoxy resin. Feng Lu then paints the cast and dried epoxy resin mold very finely and according to his image with oil paints. This creates a model and an oil painting as a sculptural work of art. A work takes months from the day it is first worked with clay until it is finished with oil paints. His work steps are so fine and complicated that it is impossible to help him with his work. So every Feng Lu is a real Feng Lu. He makes 6 originals of each sculpture.
