Svend Wad (born February 3, 1928 in Bov , † December 4, 2004 in Haderslev ) was a Danish lightweight boxer .

career

As an amateur, Wad was Danish champion in 1946 and Jutland champion from 1947 to 1949 . At the European Championships in Dublin in 1947 , he finished third. In 1948 he took part in the Olympic Games in London , where he won the bronze medal in the lightweight.

In 1949 he became a professional. On February 16, 1951 he boxed against Jørgen Johansen for the Danish championship, but had to admit defeat on points over ten rounds. He suffered his second defeat on October 26, 1951 in Geneva against Duilio Loi . He then boxed only sporadically, until 1958 he only fought four more fights. With the exception of the argument with Loi, all of his fights took place in Copenhagen .
