Ferdinand Dirichs (born November 24, 1894 in Frankfurt am Main ; † December 27, 1948 near Idstein ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Limburg from 1947 to 1948 .

Life

Dirichs received on 23 December 1922 Frankfurt Cathedral in Frankfurt the sacrament of Holy Orders . During the Third Reich he was a diocesan youth minister and an outspoken opponent of the regime .

After the death of Bishop Antonius Hilfrich Dirichs was in 1947 by Pope Pius XII. appointed as his successor and as the Pontifical Commissioner for the Pastoral Care of the Expellees . He was ordained bishop on November 21, 1947 by Cardinal Joseph Frings ; Co- consecrators were Johannes Baptist Dietz , Bishop of Fulda , and Albert Stohr , Bishop of Mainz .

Dirichs died after only one year in office in a traffic accident on the federal highway 3 near Idstein .
