Ferdinand Donandt (politician)
Ferdinand Donandt (born June 3, 1803 in Bremen , † March 1, 1872 in Bremen) was a German lawyer , president of the Bremen citizenship and Bremen senator .
biography
Donandt was the son of a craftsman. He studied law at the University of Göttingen from 1822 to 1824 and obtained his doctorate in 1824. jur. In 1825 he became a lawyer in Bremen. He was a representative of the liberal reform forces.
In 1830 he published two volumes as an attempt at a history of Bremen's city law , which were in the tradition of the historical school of law and were based on medieval documents. From 1830 he also published the Bremisches Magazin , a series of publications that critically presented the problems of the time. From 1833 to 1839 he was also the editor of the Bremer Zeitung .
After the revolution of 1848/49 Donandt was a member of the constituent Bremen citizenship . He became vice-president in 1848 and finally president of the citizenship as parliament of Bremen in 1852. From 1848 a constitutional discussion took place. The constitution formulated by the Bremen Citizens' Convention was strongly influenced by Ferdinand Donandt. With the constitution of the Bremen state of March 21, 1849, the council constitution provided for in the old city law was replaced. In 1849 Donandt became a member of the judges' college.
In 1852 Donandt was elected Senator in Bremen. He largely determined the Bremen legal, school and medical policy of the city and redesigned the judiciary. He was responsible for building a prison.
In 1862 he wrote a two-volume work as a draft of a penal code for the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . In 1869 he was a member of a seven-person commission that discussed the draft of a German Imperial Criminal Code, which was promulgated in 1871.
Donandt was married to Anna Maria Fredericke, the granddaughter of the Bremen councilor Johann Gildemeister . He had nine children. Donandt 's sixth son was the mayor Martin Donandt (1852-1937).
The Donandtstraße in Bremen- Schwachhausen is named after Ferdinand Donandt.
