Raúl Antonio Chau Quispe (born September 15, 1967 in Lima ) is a Peruvian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Arequipa .

Life

Raúl Antonio Chau Quispe attended the elementary school "Santiago Apóstol" in the Surco district of Lima and the high school "San Julián" in the Barranco district of Lima. He graduated from the Universidad de Lima in finance with a major in accounting.

In 1991 he entered the seminary "Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo" in Lima for a theological preparatory course . In 1992 he began studying philosophy and theology at the Facultad de Teología Pontificia y Civil in Lima. The Archbishop of Lima , Augusto Vargas Alzamora SJ , ordained him on July 16, 1998 . He was then secretary to Cardinal Augusto Vargas Alzamora and Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne and pastor of the parish of Santa Rosa de Lima in the Lince district of Lima. From 2007 to 2009 he completed postgraduate studies in theology at the University of Navarra in Pamplona.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 30, 2009 titular bishop of Aveia and auxiliary bishop in Lima. The Archbishop of Lima , Juan Luis Cardinal Cipriani Thorne , ordained him episcopal on April 19 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Carlos Enrique García Camader , Bishop of Lurín , and Adriano Tomasi Travaglia OFM , Auxiliary Bishop in Lima.

Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in Arequipa on July 4, 2019.
