Mag. Ferdinand Hauser (born November 2, 1795 in Bad Eisenkappel , † September 16, 1868 in Klagenfurt ) was mayor of the state capital Klagenfurt.

Life

Ferdinand Hauser was born in Hagenegg near Eisenkappel. In 1827 he became a pharmacist in Villach , in 1838 he sold his pharmacy to his brother Paul Hauser, who later became mayor of Villach, and acquired the Adler pharmacy in Klagenfurt on Neuer Platz. He was active in numerous honorary positions, for example long-time unpaid treasurer of the poor association, director of the Kärntner Sparkasse and from 1859 Imperial Councilor.

Ferdinand Hauser was married to Maria von Schneditz and died in 1868, was buried in a wall grave in the St. Ruprecht cemetery. His daughter Hella was married to his successor in office, Gabriel von Jessernig.

politics

In 1852 he was elected mayor of Klagenfurt. He founded the Oberrealschule and the commercial Sunday school, from which the commercial school and academy later developed, established the mining authority and opened the Wörthersee shipping company. During his term of office, the draining of the moor from Waidmannsdorf began, all public horse ponds were removed, the slaughterhouse was introduced, and sewer and pavement construction began.

The most important event, however, was the groundbreaking for the Klagenfurt-Marburg railway line , which gave Klagenfurt a connection to the European rail network.

Hauser rejected re-election in favor of his son-in-law Gabriel von Jessernig .
