Gotbert Moro

Gotbert Moro (born February 18, 1902 in Hermagor , † November 23, 1987 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian historian .

Life

Gotbert Moro, son of Hugo and from Ljubljana -born Marie Moro, younger brother of Oswin Moro , devoted himself to filed Matura studies of history and geography at the University of Graz , which he in 1925 with the promotion of Dr. phil. completed. After obtaining his teaching certificate in 1927, he worked as a high school teacher in Klagenfurt until he took up a professorship at the Klagenfurt Teachers' Training Institute in 1941, which he held until 1951. In addition, Gotbert Moro acted as provisional and subsequently as definitive director of the Carinthian State Museum and from 1948 to 1952State Archives . In 1957 he was given an honorary professorship for Austrian history, with special emphasis on the history of Carinthia, at the University of Graz. In addition, Moro worked between 1939 and 1970 as editor of the magazine Carinthia .

Gotbert Moro was admitted to the Austrian Academy of Sciences as a corresponding member in 1954 . In 1979 he was awarded the Paracelsusring of the city of Villach in recognition of his services to the Carinthian regional history and Paracelsus research.
