Ambros Wilhelmer

Ambros Wilhelmer (born December 1, 1902 in Klagenfurt ; † August 15, 1991 in Vienna ) was an Austrian musicologist, music teacher and composer.

Live and act

After a fundamental musical education in his hometown, Ambros Wilhelmer studied in Munich and at the Vienna Music Academy, today's University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . In addition, he studied musicology at the University of Vienna and obtained his doctorate in philosophy under Guido Adler in 1928. Until 1948 he worked mainly as a composer. He later worked as a music writer. Until 1968, Wilhelmer was also professor of theory, piano and music history at the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt.
