Ferdinand Hirsch

Ferdinand Ludwig Richard Hirsch (born April 22, 1843 in Danzig ; † March 31, 1915 ) was a German high school teacher and historian.

Life

The son of the historian Theodor Hirsch studied history at the University of Berlin from 1861 , received his doctorate in 1864 and was a teacher at the Königstädtisches Realgymnasium in Berlin from 1867. He received the title of professor.

Hirsch was the chairman of the Historical Society in Berlin and published its reports from historical literature .

He dealt with the Great Elector and edited the diary of his travel marshal Dietrich Sigismund von Buch .

Hirsch worked on the second edition of the Handbook of German History founded by Bruno Gebhardt . In 1877 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg .
