Ferdinand Laban

Ferdinand Laban (born February 1, 1856 in Pressburg, Kingdom of Hungary (now Bratislava ), † December 29, 1910 in Berlin ) was a German writer , art historian and librarian .

Life

Ferdinand Laban came from the urban bourgeoisie. The studied art historian and philosopher lived after his studies in Vienna , Klausenburg , Strasbourg and Berlin , where he worked as a librarian and museum archivist. In Berlin he was from 1894 editor of the yearbook of the Royal Prussian Art Collections. He was considered a friend of Friedrich Nietzsche and Richard Wagner and wrote his memoirs in 1885 under the title Eine Kindheitsidylle .
