Königsegg Castle

The Castle Königsegg is a castle near the boat landing point of the island of Reichenau in Mittelzell , district of the municipality Reichenau , in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Wuerttemberg . Today it is a school for speech therapy .

history

In the late Middle Ages, the seat of a ministerial of Reichenau Abbey was located at the current location . In the 16th century, the palace was rebuilt by the Counts of Königsegg . In the 17th century, the Augustinian canons of the Abbey of Beuron acquired the castle and had the property rebuilt. Königsegg Castle remained in the possession of the order until secularization at the beginning of the 19th century. After that, the building changed hands several times until it and the park were taken over by the Reichenau community in 1983. It received its current neo-Romanesque appearance in 1840.

Todays use

The castle has been home to the IB Medical Education Academy, a school for speech therapy , since 1995 . The three-year full-time training received state recognition in 1998. Every year in June, open-air plays take place in the palace gardens. The castle cannot be visited.
