history
The previous building is not secured, possibly a small castle stood here.
The two-storey half - timbered building with a stair tower , which still exists today, was built around 1640. The coat of arms on the tower shows the coats of arms of Sürgenstein, Roth von Schreckenstein, von Liebenfels, von Coppenhagen and von Stuben from bottom to top. Engelbert von Syrgenstein's father is named as Obervogt zu Gaienhofen. The owners of the renaissance building were the von Liebenfels, in the 18th century the von Koppenhagen were named as owners.
An inn was established at the beginning of the 20th century, and today it is a popular destination.
