The Castle Neu-Dettingen , today as courtyard called, the ruin of a lowland castle on the southwestern shore of Lake Überlingen at the village of Dettingen the city of Konstanz in Konstanz district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was built by the Lords of Dettingen towards the end of the 12th century as the outer bailey of Alt-Dettingen Castle , renovated like a castle after 1320 , and destroyed by fire in 1642. Around 1661 the castle was rebuilt and came into the possession of the Kommende Mainau of the Teutonic Order .

Building description

The former castle complex now shows a 12.20 by 12.53 meter three-storey, almost square residential building with stepped gables . The former castle is now used as a forestry office.
