Neck Castle

The castle neck is an Outbound Wallenburg about 2,400 meters southeast of the church of the district Bodman the community Bodman-Ludwigshafen in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Wuerttemberg .
The castle was on the neck southeast of Bodman, near the wild stick hole.

history

Most of the finds on the plateau can be attributed to the Neolithic and date from the Michelsberg culture from the years 3500 to 2700 BC. A Roman watchtower possibly stood here as well . Because of the 45 meter long wall with a width of ten meters and a height of three to four meters as well as two moats , it is assumed that the castle complex was expanded during the early Middle Ages between the 8th and 11th centuries.
The castle site is a freely accessible ground monument .
