Ferdinand Lepcke
Ferdinand Lepcke (born March 23, 1866 in Coburg , † March 12, 1909 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Ferdinand Lepcke was born on March 23, 1866 in Coburg. He received his training in the studio of the Biber brothers and at the school of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin. From October 1883 to September 1890 he studied at the Berlin Academy , from 1888 as a master student of Fritz Schaper . In 1891 he became a member of the Association of Berlin Artists . In 1893 the Prussian Academy of Arts awarded him the great state prize, which consisted of a year of scholarships in Rome . Further study trips later took him to France and Copenhagen . In 1895, the Grand Duke of Sachsen-Weimar awarded Lepcke the Knight's Cross of the House Order of the White Falcon . In 1903 he received a small gold medal at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition . On June 8, 1905, the Berlin Minister for Spiritual Education and Medical Affairs awarded him the title of professor. Lepcke died of pneumonia on March 12, 1909 in Berlin.
