history
The initiative to build the station was taken by the property company Heimstätten AG , which wanted to develop the Nikolassee villa colony. The station was of great importance for the success of the founding of the villa suburb. This is why the reception building, which was outstanding for the time, was built in the civil Gothic style, designed by Fritz Bräuning and Paul Vogler .
The Nikolassee station at the intersection of the Wetzlar Railway and the Wannsee Railway was opened on May 1, 1902. The Wetzlar Railway has been electrified since 1928 and the Wannsee Railway since 1933. The station was given its current form between 1934 and 1938. The pedestrian connection between the platforms was established and suburban traffic was separated from long-distance traffic on the Wetzlarer Bahn.
meaning
Nikolassee station is one of the quieter stations of the Berlin S-Bahn today. It is rarely used as a transfer station because the distances between the platforms are relatively long; changing at the neighboring Wannsee station is usually more convenient.
