location

The stop on the northern runway is in the north of Borgsdorf, a few kilometers south of Oranienburg . The Hohen Neuendorfer town center is about 5 km south, the Berlin city center about 25 km as the crow flies to the southeast. The lehnitz station is located approximately 3 km to the north and the birkenwerder station just 3 km south. The station borders on Bahnhofstrasse and Hirschallee and belongs to the Berlin C tariff area of the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association .

history

In July 1877, the northern railway, which connects Berlin and Stralsund , was opened. A breakpoint was set up in September of the same year . He initially had two side platforms . Until 1891 only trains stopped here when needed. Until 1880/1881 these stops only existed during the summer timetable. On October 4, 1925, the section that runs through Borgsdorf was electrified and the S-Bahn has stopped here since then. From May 1927 the trains stopped in Borgsdorf every 20 minutes.

In 1939 it was planned to lower the breakpoint into a cut. But the implementation of this project did not materialize. Finally, the entire operation had to be stopped at the end of April 1945 due to war damage. It was not until August 18, 1945 that the electric S-Bahn started running again. Replacement trains powered by steam took over operation between mid-June and August. The second track between Borgsdof and Wilhelmsruh was then dismantled, so that only single-track operation was possible between Oranienburg and Borgsdorf. A new second track was not laid again until 1953.

In 1964 the two side platforms were replaced by a central platform . In addition, the particularly eye-catching signal tower for the Borgsdorf block was built afterwards .

An ICE-T passed through in June 2012

Investments

The stop has two tracks with a covered central platform. In addition, there are two through tracks on the eastern side. The platform can be reached via a pedestrian bridge that leads to both sides of the railway line. There is also a level access that leads between the tracks to the level crossing . In addition, the tower block is located at the southern end of the platform, where the street and train cross at a level crossing.
