Ice-T
Ice-T (born February 16, 1958 in Newark , New Jersey ; actually Tracy Lauren Marrow ) is an American musician and actor .
Life
Musical career
Ice-T was born in Newark, but grew up in Los Angeles . His career began with extra roles in the series Fame - Der Weg zum Ruhm (1983) and the two breakdance films Breakin ' and Breakin 2 - Electric Boogaloo (both 1984). Spurred on by his role as MC , he tried his hand at rapper. He borrowed his name from that of his favorite author Iceberg Slim , from whose work he was strongly influenced. His themes reflect life on the street, in his neighborhood and in gangs . He was one of the first rappers to glorify the pimp lifestyle . He is also considered a pioneer of gangsta rap .
Despite a few singles in the years 1983–1986, his debut album Rhyme Pays was not released until 1987. It was produced by Afrika Islam . It sold around 300,000 times at the time. Ice-T's big breakthrough came with the follow-up album Power and the hit single I'm Your Pusher . Again and again he spoke out on political issues.
In 1989 he founded the heavy metal - crossover band Body Count . The band attracted attention mainly through the song Cop Killer . At the time of the scandal surrounding the use of force by police officers against Rodney King and the subsequent riot in Los Angeles , the song sparked some controversy. Warner Brothers did n't stand up to public pressure in preparation for Ice-T's next album, Home Invasion . They released Ice-T from his contract, and the album was defused by two "softer" tracks ( Cop Killer was replaced by Freedom of Speech ). This enabled him to build his own record label, Rhyme Syndicate .
Ice-T is known for working with other artists who are not hip-hop artists. He recorded a song with Slayer for the soundtrack to the film Judgment Night . With Jello Biafra he released the song Freedom of Speech . Together with Six feet Under , Ice-T recorded a song called One Bullet Left . Furthermore, he can be heard on the album The truth hurts by the band Pro-Pain in the song Put the lights out and together with Motörhead on the single Born to Raise Hell (extraction of the Airheads soundtrack). He contributed the song Police Story to the compilation Rise Above: 24 Black Flag Songs to Benefit the West Memphis Three , a benefit record for the benefit of the West Memphis Three , which was put together by the former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins . He also released a cover version of the Prince song Head from his album Dirty Mind . Ice-T also produced the soundtrack for the third-person shooter Gears of War 3 , released in April 2011 . He also worked with other rappers, such as Kool Keith under the name Analog Brothers and with Smoothe the Hustler and Trigger the Gambler under the name SMG .
Acting career
He pushed his film career from 1991. Since then he has made a number of feature films. In quick succession he shot New Jack City , Ricochet - Der Aufprall und Trespass . Since then he has been in front of the camera regularly without his films being seen more often in German-speaking countries. He mainly plays cops or gangsters. From 1995 he also took on roles in television series. He made several guest appearances in New York Undercover and VIP - Die Bodyguards before he switched to the regular cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 2000 . In 1998 he had already taken on a role in the law & order film Exiled .
In 2000, Ice-T voiced the character Kain in the PC game Sanity - Aikens Artifact from Monolith Productions . He also composed the title song for the game, which was included in the scope of delivery. He also lent his voice in 2005 to the rapper "Madd Dogg" from the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas .
Private life
He is the son of Solomon Marrow, an African American, and Alice Marrow, a light-skinned Creole . Because of the widespread racism , he had to struggle with exclusion and discrimination since childhood , a circumstance that significantly shaped his later career as a musician.
Since January 2002 he has been married to the American actress and erotic model Nicole Austin alias "Coco". On November 28, 2015, the two parents had a daughter.
