action

Colonel Sykes, former USMC officer , knowingly blows up an entire village of innocent people. In order not to put his comrades behind bars, he has the charges brought against him. Sykes claims to be the victim of a betrayal of General Prescott, who apparently gave him orders to kill dozens of people. The accused is arrested in court. When he was transported by prisoner transport, Sykes was freed by his former comrades. The war criminal and his accomplices make their way to Prescott, who has now got into a passenger plane. They too go on board and take control of the Boeing B-747 at a dizzying height of 9,000 meters . They put all passengers in the hold and demand a ransom of 100 million US dollars before the plane from Washington reaches Los Angeles.

In truth, Sykes is after a CD that General Prescott carries in his briefcase. It contains data from all secret agents. The General Staff orders that a team of four anti-terrorism specialists be brought on board using a converted Lockheed SR-71 in order to overwhelm the kidnappers. Led by Chief Petty Officer Matt Marshall , they actually get on the plane, but since the terrorists saw the cockpit hatch warning light, they are expected and killed immediately; only Marshall is only wounded. Sykes shoots the copilot. Marshall takes on the fight against the kidnappers with the flight attendant Kelly. Since the task force seems to be unsuccessful, the NSA director Victor Quinn lets four F-16 fighters soar, which are supposed to shoot down the jumbo jet if necessary. When Kelly attacks Sykes, a door opens and Sykes flies out. Thereupon the attack of the F-16 is canceled. General Prescott's companion takes a $ 10 million bribe and shoots the pilot, but is in turn shot by Marshall. Now there is no one on board who can land the jumbo jet. However, Kelly succeeds in landing in Atlanta , Georgia , following the instructions of the tower.

Trivia

The F-16 fighters are actually F-15s.

The pictures of the red Boeing 747 show the "City of Everett", the first 747 to be built.
