Lloyd "Mooseman" Roberts III (born on 24. December 1962 in Bernice , Louisiana , died on 22. February 2001 in Los Angeles ) was an American rock - and Heavy Metal - bassist . He was best known as the co-founder and bassist of the crossover band Body Count and played for Iggy Pop after leaving the band . In 2001 he was killed in a shooting in Los Angeles.

Musical career

Lloyd Roberts was born in Bernice, Louisiana in 1962. He went to Crenshaw High School in South Central Los Angeles and played in the high school band, where he also met his later bandmates Ice-T , Ernie C , Beatmaster V and D-Roc (Dennis Miles). As "Mooseman" was best known as the bassist of the band Body Count . He was one of the founding members and songwriter of the band and contributed significantly to the band's success. He played the bass on the band's first two albums, Body Count and Born Dead, and left the band in 1996.

After Body Count, he played under his name Lloyd Roberts with Iggy Pop and recorded the studio album Beat Em Up with this , where he was active as a bassist and as a writer for individual songs. After the recordings of Beat Em Up , Mooseman was fatally injured in a drive-by shoot-out in Los Angeles and died on the spot. Iggy Pop dedicated the album to him.
