Ferdinand Neukäufler

Max Ferdinand Neukäufler ( October 10, 1785 in Strasbourg - February 18, 1860 in Darmstadt ) was a German opera singer ( tenor , baritone ), stage actor and choir director.

Life

Neukäufler, the son of the actor Jakob Neukäufler and his second wife Johanna, b. Vogt (1759–1842), came to Vienna with his parents when he was five. There Ludwig van Beethoven taught him to play the piano. At the age of eight he sang one of the three boys in the Vienna performance of the Magic Flute . In 1803 he sang the "Prince" in the opera Alexander in India by Franz Teyber .

He then worked at the Augsburg Theater from 1806 to 1809 and in Würzburg from 1809 to 1811, before moving to Darmstadt in 1811, where he had a long career as a singer, actor and choir director. Occasionally he also composed. In Darmstadt in 1816 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge Johannes der Evangelist zur Eintracht .

New buyer was married twice. First with Ignatia, geb. Stralino from Augsburg (d. July 21, 1814 in Darmstadt) and from December 9, 1818 with Wilhelmine, b. Frey, from Darmstadt.

His younger brother was the actor Anton Neukäufler , his daughter the opera singer Marie Neukäufler .
