Ferdinand Schazmann

Ferdinand Rudolf Christoph David Schazmann (born July 15, 1766 in Burg Friedberg , † April 15, 1845 in Darmstadt ) was a German lawyer and writer.

Life

Ferdinand Schazmann was the son of Philipp David Schazmann (born February 18, 1718 in Friedberg; † April 22, 1793 ibid), imperial councilor and office director in Friedberg and his wife Susanne Regine (born March 30, 1733 in Diez ; † March 30 1805 in Friedberg), daughter of Johann Adam Goedeke (1695–1765), bailiff in Nassau . His siblings were:

  • Franz Adam David Schazmann (born December 16, 1756 in Friedberg; † August 19, 1782 there);
  • Friedrich Daniel Henrich David Schazmann (born September 3, 1759 in Friedberg; † December 11, 1813), urban and rural physicist, Hessian-Homburg court councilor ;
  • Henriette Christine Schazmann (born August 30, 1761 in Friedberg; † October 27, 1761)

Ferdinand Schazmann began studying law, philology and camera studies at the University of Giessen on April 10, 1785 . After completing his studies, he completed an internship at the Imperial Court of Justice for six months and was hired as archivist and registrar at Friedberg Castle in 1790 . In 1802 he was initially with the Hessian Reichstag embassy in Regensburg and in the same year became Princely Hessian Secretary at the Ministerial and Marstall Office Chancellery in Darmstadt . In 1805 he was also appointed secretary to the accounting department (auditing) of the Oberforstkollegium. In 1807 he was then chief forestry accountant.

In 1814 he was appointed to the council and in 1817 he was released into retirement. He then worked as a writer and published writings on historical topics.

Ferdinand Schazmann was married to Johanna Maria Fuhr (born August 4, 1779 in Darmstadt; † October 27, 1857 there), daughter of Johann Heinrich Fuhr (1735–1809), who built up an international merchandise trade and sister of Merchant Johann Heinrich Fuhr . They had 2 children together:

  • Friedrich Ferdinand David Schazmann (1810-1814);
  • Auguste Ferdinande Schazmann (1811-1834).

Memberships

  • In 1822 Ferdinand Schazmann became director of the death fund association in Darmstadt.
  • from 1823 to 1831 he was a member of the Grand Ducal Civil Servant Widows' Fund Commission.
  • He was a member of several learned societies.

Honors

In 1824 he was appointed councilor.
