The son of a leather manufacturer graduated from high school in Schwäbisch Hall in 1929 . Subsequently studied Schneider chemistry at the universities of Tuebingen , Freiburg , Dresden and Munich , where he 1934 Dr. phil. received his doctorate. During his studies he joined the student union Landsmannschaft Scotland . From 1935 Schneider was an assistant at the Dresden Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Leather Research . From 1937 to 1944 he was department head at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute and from 1941 as a lecturer in organic chemistry at the Technical University of Dresden. In 1944 he came to the TU Danzig as a lecturer . In 1945 he became head of a research institute for organic chemistry. From 1946 Schneider taught initially as a private lecturer and from 1949 until his retirement in 1970 as a full professor at the TU Braunschweig . He was also director of the Institute for Agricultural Technology and the Sugar Industry at the TU Braunschweig. In addition to his work at the university, Schneider was active in various research associations, for example from 1964 to 1966 as President of the Science Council of the Working Group of Industrial Research Associations .
